God Save Arena Rock is a story about Spanish punk band Muletrain on tour in Germany and France. It's also about what it takes for an independent band to do a long tour with no promoters, managers and just a hundred euros. In 54 minutes, this documentary dissects ambiguities, desires, and frustrations contained inside a van with six guys driving over 5,000 miles, with moments of both drama and irony. “This is a rock star's nightmare,” was the response of one band member after seeing the final result of over 60 hours of filming.
God Save Arena Rock was made by two young Spanish film makers David Álvarez and Ivar Muñoz-Rojas, who will be presenting it next Tuesday the 24th of March on the Village East Cinema (181 2nd Avenue at 12th Street) in The New York International Independent Film and Video Festival.
