I could say how I purchased the bootleg EP though I've had most of the tracks already or how I went to the Yelle show in Los Angeles and UCSD, but I'll explain why I really respect them as artists and people.
Last year, I organized a benefit concert for children in Romania and Funeral Party was the headliner of the night. Turns out the night before their singer got food poisoning and only got worse throughout that night and that next morning. But they still showed up, playing almost an hour even though their singer was on the floor half an hour prior to their performance. They saved the show and our asses by sticking through it and I'm nothing short of grateful to them.
on top of that, they do their own thing while playing with a diverse group of bands like free the robots, bizzart, yelle, etc. |

| I've been listening to a bunch of Fearless bands before they came on, and when they did, they blew me away. I love their music and their new Bootleg EP, and they're great in concert! |

My explanations always come with a story. I suppose I will tell you how I found out about them and the explain how I feel about them and why. Well, here goes nothing.
About three years ago I was on myspace browsing though different types of music, but I was looking for something fresh, something new, something...mind blowing, but you don't just come across bands and music artist like that. There is a possibility you will come across something much great and indescribable once you listen to Funeral Party.
So in a way I accidentally found them on purpose. As soon as I heard Chalice for the first time I knew they were the next big thing from that moment on I wanted to cherish not only that moment, but the music...it was just so much to take in. I think I even started crying because like most people say All the good bands are gone because they have either died, separated, or have gotten too trendy and mainstream. I miss the good ol' stuff from the 70s, 80s, and early 90s!
Well, in my opinion, Funeral Party is greater than them! I listen to at least one of their songs more than 20 times a day. No joke! I tried since long ago to get my hands on their music and I downloaded what I could before they got signed because there were days where I couldn't wait to get home, log onto myspace, get on there page and play their song over and over again. There music is so inspiring, moving, catchy, magical, and so much more...I could probably write a book about it.
I shared their music and new sound with all of my friends and some of them actually talked bad about them, but I didn't let that get me down because Funeral Party was there with me through it all. The sad thing was that my friends were missing out on this "new movement" an style. When Funeral Party got bigger all of those friends that talked bad about them came to me asking where to find their music and things like that. I just laughed, but I wasn't just going to deny them the right to listen to such beautiful music.
I almost feel that I grew up with those guys. I not only love their music, but the band members as well because they are such friendly people. Its strange because I have never met them or seen them live because I never got the opportunity to because I was "denied the right" to see them because of my age and location.
Although my location is still the same, I am trying much harder to go and see them. If not, I watch all the video footage, listen to all the audio footage, try to catch them on the radio (online as well), Visit their page, and even promote them as much as I can. I love the fact that they took small steps into getting signed and documented everything so their true fans could stay in touch with them and their careers. I already know that they have a lot ahead of them. So good luck to them.
I apologize for basically typing a book, but I just love them to death! I really do. I am horrible with words, but damn did I try.
Peace & chicken grease!

i love how funeral party brings back the funk. i love the 60s and funeral party is one of the few bands i know that manage to encorporate it so well into their music
plus they arent like the billion scenic powerpop or punkpop bands out there
they really bring back the meaning of it all - making an danceable version of r&b soul and all that jazz [literally!]
i'll be honest that i havent been a fan for long, but after their debut on dj rossstar's punk rock show, i fell in love
keep it real funeral party, you guys are gonna blow up big! |
