Valencia - We all need a reason to believe
Columbia Records . release date: 08/26/2008 . written by Oliver . genre: Emo/ Rock
I read a lot of interesting reviews about Valencia´s somophore
release "We all need a reason to believe" on the internet.
Amazingly some people tend to call the band Pop Rockers, others call them just
a over-produced band. I cannot agree with that, when I listen to Valencia´s
major label debut. To me Valencia´s music sound like the most wonderful
and emotional Rock music that has appeared on the market, since a very long time.
Whenever I listen to their beautiful release I find parallels to bands like The
Format, Jimmy Eat World, Acceptance and Spitalfield. I guess those bands can pretty
good reflect, what Valencia sounds like. Their new major label effort contains
eleven beautiful Rock tracks, pretty much in the vein of the just now listed bands.
Ariel Rechtshaid who already worked with The Plain White T´s or We Are Scientists
did a real great job on this catchy record, which sounds really so flawless in
my ears. The basslines have turned out huge, the drums are sounding gleamy, the
guitars are harsh and edgie together. Ariel Rechtshaid definitely focussed on
the singers voice and made it sound so special and pleasant. To me Valencia has
really created a fantastic major label debut with amazing choruses and very dreamily
and beautiful melodies on. I really love the fact, that the whole band is escorting
the singers vocals while they are singing from the back on almost every refrain.
The songs got kept in a mid tempo manner and so you won´t find any boring
ballards or fast songs. I tried to find out the most outstanding track on the
record; but I can not. To me the whole album has really worked out fine and I
am sure, it may become a classic one in the Emo/Rock genre.
