The Saint Alvia Cartel (today: Saint Alvia) is a Punk/ Reggae/ Ska band from Burlington, Ontario. When Rob Pasalic (former Boys Night Out Ferret records) and Greg Taylor (former Grade Victory records and Jersey Fueled By Ramen/ Virgin Records) met in 2005 they decided to found a new project. Both had the idea to found a brandnew band project that should reflect heart, soul and passion. Saint Alvia was born - a wonderful band project that makes me directly think about a plenty of bands alike 59 Times The Pain, Rancid, Moneybrother, Jackson United, Street Dogs and Bedouin Soundclash. Saint Alvia definitely has the right groove and a real good feeling for melodies. Who needs EMO when you can listen to such perfect bands that deliver such a complex blend of great emotions and heartfelt pain? The great record starts off with a killer tune, called "Karma Kill Me Again" - a song with heavy organ in the back. "Don't wanna wait for ever" sounds like an african dance-dub. "Dirty Dend" is a pretty hard and fast Punk. Greg's hardcore roots are getting obvious in this song. He once sung for Grade, which was a pretty good HC band on Victory records. "Try To Forget" is the next song to find on the record. To me it sounds like a Mad Caddies/ Joe Strummer mixture with killer horns, organ and a gigantic refrain. "Time To Go" is perfect song for the summer time with driving drums and a great refrain. The record gained a Juno nomination for best Rock Album in 2008 in Canada. Gunner Records from Germany decided to release the record for the European market.
