The Hush Sound - Goodbye Blues

FBR/ Decaydance Records . release date: 18-03-08 . written by Oliver

The Hush SoundThe Hush Sound released their third full lenght CD on Fueled By Ramen/ Decaydance records on March 18th. The Chicago quartett is fronted by Greta Salpeter, who sings and plays piano. Robert Morris is doing the vocals on the more rockierer songs. Both bandleaders have really good and calming voices. The band never expected to have so much sucsess, when they started out in 2005 and directly released their debut on Decay/FBR then. Their second album “Like Vines” sold 60000 copies to date – probably it has helped the band a lot to be signed to Pete Wentz very own label. On “Goodbye Blues” the band was helped out by Kevin Augunas, who has also worked with “Cold War Kids”. Augunas has made a pretty good job: The recording quality is pretty good and you can hear figure out every single instrument pretty clear. The new record contains 13 tracks, 40 min. total. Their style is somewhere to find between Indie Pop, Jazz, Blues and probably even carbarret. The band continue their pattern of their first two releases, but I honestly need to admit, that I liked the foregoer releases better, because I found better melodies on it. Nevertheless “Goodbye Blue” has turned out good too, but not as good as the other records.
