The Blue Van are four guys from Denmark. In their early years Steffen Westmark (guitars, vocals), Soren Oakes Christensen (key, guitars), Allan Villadsen (bass) and Per Jorgensen (drums) met eachother and practiced in the basement of one of their grandma's (who, for god's sake, was deaf). At first sight the band name seems boring but there's a story behind it. In denmark „The Blue Van“ is the bus, that takes patients to the psychiatry. The first EP „A Session With The Blue Van“ was recorded in Kopenhagen, where the band stayed for some time and played Roskilde festival as well as SPOT. Their recent record „Man Up“ was recorded in Hamburg, they worked together with mark Wills, who co-recorded their first record as well as Dan Hougesen, who worked with upcoming danish band „Dúné“. On this record, the four guys wanted to create a best possible sound but also try to experiment a little more. The first single „Silly Boy“ was chosen to be „track of the week“ by the danish radio. Songs of The Blue Van appeared on TV shows, like „CSI NY“, „Beverly Hills 902010“ or „Scrubs“. The song „There Goes My Love“ was chosen to be the official song for the Ipad campagne. All 13 songs on the record are well done rock songs, some with a 70's kind of taste to it. „Man Up“ is a record you can easily listen to and maybe that's the only problem about it. Some of the songs aren't very exeptionally. But in conclusion „Man Up“ is a good rock record and The Blue Van a band that you should keep your eye on.
