Aaron Gillespie normally plays drums in Underoath and sings the clean vocals. Now he found his new project that goes by the name of The Almost. Toothandnail and EMI records teamed up to release this debut album. Solo artist Gillespie recorded eleven tracks and played every instrument on his own. Jeremy Enigk from Sunny Day Real Estate helped out on vocals. The Almost differ a lot in comparison to Underoath. I definitely like the fact, that Aaron had the guts to transfer all his ideas in the new project without beeing affected by Underoath. In the past few weeks listeners had the chance to listen to his great catchy song "Say It Sooner". The Almost is a pure Pop-Rock act without any Screamo elements to find in it. His music is sometimes pretty silent and calming. Other songs are full of anger and energy. Fans of Taking Back Sunday and Dashboard Confessional really shouldn´t hesitate to grab this great Pop-Rock driven record. Aaron is a christian guy and he reflects his beliefs in his lyrics a lot. The most outstanding track is called "Amazing because it is". The heart-melting and cosey song contains a children choir and trumpet. I am so in love with this song. The keys in the back remind me a lot to The Get Up Kids´ classic release "Something to write home about".
