The Almost - No gift to bring EP

The AlmostUnderoath drummer and songwriter Aaron Gillespie has recorded a new EP with his project The Almost, called "No gift to bring". The record contains five pretty different songs. The EP starts with a beautiful ballard, called "Awful direction". The songs contains heavy organ, accoustic guitars and brilliant drum styles. Next in line is a christmas cover track, called "Little drummer boy". The track was sung in it´s original version "The Carol of the Drum" in the year 1941 by Katherine K. Davis. David Bowie, Ashley Simpson, Elvis Presley and tons of other musicians already covered that song. Now Aaron did too and he changed the original lyrics a lot. He sings: "Shall I play for you [The King] on my drums". I really like his abilitys on the drums. You also should know, that Aaron plays every instrument on his own. To me the greatest track is called "Amazing because it is". This track was also to find on the foregoer record "Southern Weather". I also liked that track the most on the album; now I do the same with the track on the EP. I really like the great melody and the cool children choir in the back. Track number four is called "Your love is extravagant". This tune is only accoustic with a nice melody on. To me Aaron has released a solid EP, but I really liked "Southern Weather" more, because it contained so much more Rock attitude. "No gift to bring" is good but I am missing the hard-edged guitars and the killer melodies.
