Underoath’s drummer Aaron Gillespie has already released a full length record and an EP trough Toothandnail records. Now he released a brandnew album trough Toothandnail/ EMI music. I honestly have to admit, that I liked his past releases. Southern Weather (1st full length) was a solid release with pure Pop Rock on. The “No gift to bring” EP was also very good, but I was not really convinced by it. Now the band from Clearwater, Florida released a real stunning album, called Monster. The record contain 13 very different Emo-Rock tracks. The record made it to rank 67 in the chart positions of the American top-200, rank 20 in the alternative Charts and to rank 3 in the Christian Rock Charts. With the release of the new record “Monster Monster” Aaron and his band have totally convinced me. The album is awesome! It starts with the title track “monster.monster”. I am totally into the refrain: “I’m sick of these monsters…, we got to get out, before it get’s me”. Strange but funny refrain. I am totally impressed by all the creativeness that I find on the new release. There is great choruses to find, slamming drums, cool piano passages, monster-great-melodies and some real hard edged riffs. There is not a single bad song to find on the record; every melody turned out real impressive and it makes fun to sing-a-long to the songs. Aaron has really a clean voice; he proofed it on Underoath’s 2004 release “They’re only chasing safety”. Aaron is not a deep song writer – his lyrics are about romance and well, about Monsters too. “Monster-Monster” turned out real good. Fans of Jimmy Eat World, Anberlin and Foo Fighters shouldn’t hesitate to buy that record. German fans can get the record trough our Christian music partner Gerth.de Music.
