The Academy Is - Almost here

Wow, this is really a nice pop punk release, which reminds me from the first second to Fall Out Boy. James Paul Wisner, who already recorded with FSF/ Mourning September/ Stretch Arm Strong/ Dashboard and many others did a great job on this. The fantastic release sounds really bright and clear. The Academy Is is a young band with amazing talents. Their intuition for brilliant melodies is just amazing. The band consists of five stylish boys, which deliver their very first full length on Fueled By Ramen records. I think this release will make FBR really popular, cause this band is incredibly talented. William Becketts voice is young but powerful, the guitars are sappy and the basslines are clear and beamy. The drummer records all those pop punk songs with amazing drum work. The Academy Is delivers an fantastic pop punk album that other bands will have trouble competing with. I need to go back to Williams voice here again, cause I have to mention that you feel so much passion and joy in his voice. I also like his lyrics. Song number five is called “black mamba”. This song centers around punkrock writers. Let me quote a some passages, so you know what the band thinks about criticism about their band: “Oh Mister magazine, I never wrote one single song for you or your so called music scene….You both mean shit to me”, “love me or leave me or rip it apart”, “take a long walk on the shortest pier you can find”. You definitely recognize their well self confidence here, which I really like. Note to the band: You can be sure, no writer will give you a bad appraisal here. The album rocks, and I think we will hear a lot about The Academy Is in the future.
