Search Rescue - The Compound

SearchRescueFormer members of Gatsby's American Dream (Fearless rec.) and Acceptance (TMG/Columbia) have found a new project, called Search/Rescue. “The Compound” is the bands debut on Eyeball records. The more I listen to the solid record, the more often I recognize several different influences; and so I can find some small impacts on The Cure, Heavens, Acceptance and Morrissey. Ryan Van Wieringens has such a mature and distinctive voice, which fits so well into the bands Pop-Rock concept. I totally desire the quirky guitars and the soft synthesizers in the backround. “The Compound” starts off with a dynamic Rock song, called Fireflies. I totally like Ryan´s mature voice, that stands in contradiction to the hard drums. The next great tune is called “Museum” – a wonderful, romantic tune that contains a lot of energy. To me “The Compound” really offers wonderful Rock music for adults. To me the most outstanding track is called “Holding On” – a great hymn, that reminds me a lot to Coldplay, AVA, Copeland and This Day And Age. Sounds like a weird describtion, right? I am not sure, if many kids will like the music, but I´m sure adults will do. I was blown away by all those great and powerful songs, that have a high-technical approach. The songs often take about three minutes of time and often kept focussed on romantic themes, like love, without sounding awkward or silly. To me “The Compound” is a solid Rock album, with stunning melodies- and great lyrics on.
