Rise Against song of the counter culture

Rise Against consits of four people: Joe, who was in 88-fingers before, Brandon, who plays drums, Chris (bass) and Tim Mc Illrath (vocals). "Siren song of the counter culture" is their third full length album, but this time there is a small difference to their foregoer records: Every release appeared on Fat Wreck until now. The new album has appears on Universal Records. The band left Fat with an friendly announcement to it´s fans: "They don´t actually play their music for the profit. They try to bring on their message to a larger audience". It seems as if the fans understand the band´s decision. Tim´s abilities to write senseful and inteligent lyrics are pretty well known by now. His amazing song “Swing Life Away”, that has appeared on the famous “Punk Goes Accoustic” compilation on Fearless records, has gained a lot of attention. The song is a super romantic tune, pretty much in the vein of Dashboard Confessional. I can imagine, that the band has gained a few more fans, just because of this amazing tune. Tim, who says he was a looser and a nerd in school – with huge glasses by the way – shows what´s in him now: He is a frontman yet in the one of the most sucsessful punk bands in America. His ability to sing in a very senseful and sensititive way on one hand, and beeing able to sing with an aggressive throat on the other hand, has made him and the band so well known in the music buiss (worldwide!). Rise Against often reminds me to Good Riddance´s killer release “A comprehensive guide to modern rebellion” from 95´. I can find the same killer fast tunes with amazing melodies, that I once found on “A comprehensive guide..”. To me, Rise Against is one of the very best Punk bands out there. Noone is able to put so much melody into fast songs, like R.A. does.
