Ride Your Bike bad news from the bar
Deep Elm Records . 2007
Wow... Deep Elm has released another new "EMO" band again. I am talking about "Ride Your Bike", a brandnew indie/Emo group, that shows exciting parallels to some very old Get Up Kids, Smashing Pumpkins and Limbeck releases. Recently DeepElm has send me the band´s debut album and so I was stocked about all the beautiness and harmonie, that I was able to find on the record. Frontman Mike Getches has a young and raw voice. His voice reminds me a lot to such Toothandnail bands, like "238" and "Discover America". "Bad News From The Bar" is a puristic, emotional loaded record, with a lot of heart and emotion in it. Sometimes the listener can find additional instruments, like piano in the back. Chris Jak, who produced Rise Against and Andrew Berlin (A Wilhelm Scream Suicide Machines) recorded that record. The result is amazing: The whole record sounds to me, as if it was recorded in 93/94/95 - those special years, when Saves The Day, Hot Water Music, As Friends Rust and The Get Up Kids just released their best music. My ranking is five out of five. Highy recommened to fans of older Get Up Kids and Limbeck releases.
