Number One Gun - The north pole project
Toothandnail Records . 2008
Number One Gun started out in 2003 on Floodgate records. They released their debut album “Celebrate Mistakes” on that small indie record company. I clearly renember how stocked I was, when I listened to the the band for the very first time. In 2005 the band got signed to Toothandnail records and released their fallow-up release “Promises for the imperfect”. I have lost touch to the band in 2005. I just heard, that they split abruptly. I recently read, that some ex-members formed a new band on Toothandnail, called Surrogate. In 2008 Number One Gun is back – or not? Frontman Jeff Schneweiss is back and he is alone this time. He plays every instrument on his own. The concept seems to be pretty popular at the moment. There are many bands out there, like The Almost or The Prize Fighter Inferno, whose singers play every instrument on their own. This time it´s Jeff, who does the vocals, the drums, the guitar, bass and the synthesizer. Jeff still plays emotional Rock tunes, just like in 2003. I can not say, that he has become any better. But I can assure you, that he has kept the high standart. He has such a crystal clear voice, that sounds so mature and bright. To me, I can find many parallels to well known bands, like Acceptance or Cartel, whose singers have a similar voice. You really should take a listen to Number One Gun, if you like the listed bands.
