Kid Down is a swedish Pop Rock band, that is currently signed to Burning Heart/ Epitaph records. They have already released a couple of records. Their first release came out in 2005 on Atenzia Records. In 2007 they signed with Burning Heart records and released a full-lenght album there. In 2009 the band made another step forward and released their newest effort on Burning Heart/ Epitaph records. The record is called "I want my girlfriend rich". Fans can expect a fresh Pop Punk album with 13 great tracks on. To me these swedish Punks sound like a mixture between Denver Harbor, Vanilla Sky, Mercy Mecedes, The Ramones, Travoltas, Randy and Autopilot Off - just that their music sounds more sunshinier than the music of the listed bands. Their new record contains a lot of catchy Pop Punk tunes, like "I'm Your Villain", which is the second track to find on the record. This tune is so fantastic and it makes me go hungry for the summer to come. The beat definitely reminds me to "The Lost Patrol Band", which is a side project from Dennis Lyxzén from The International Noise Conspiracy. "Ill do it for you" starts off with a great synthesizer intro. Seems as if the 80's are coming back. Unfortunately tons of bands currently play the same kind of music, that Kid Down is offering here. Fans of The Cab, Mercy Mercedes, Panic ATD or The Arrival find their absolution here. "Break My Back!" is a stunning mid-tempo song with strong back-up-vocals and slamming drums. This track sounds as if New Found Glory has written it. The refrain is breathtaking and a sunshiny atmosphere definintely takes over here. "People Say You Find Everything On Wikipedia"amazes me a lot when I listen to these clapping hands and the well played refrain. "Rookie Of The Year" fans will love this tune. "Be Safe" sounds like the most matured track on this record. Driving drums and guitars make this track real special. Fans of All Time Low, Person L and Autopilot Off may like this tune a lot. It doesn´t matter which tracks I analyse - they all make me think of other bands. This makes it pretty clear: Kid Down did not reinvent something new here. Their music was influenced by tons of great bands. This makes it a pleasure to listen to their music. But beware of expecting self-contained creations here. Instead you find a nice Pop punk release that welcomes Spring and Sunmmer time.
