Ivoryline - There came a lion

IvorylineI read a few opinions about Ivoryline on the internet. Well, some critique was good, some was not. So let me tell you, what I think about Toothandnail records´ newest artist Ivoryline. The very first aspect, that I recognized, was a very good recording quality: All the instruments and even more important - the singers voice - sound pretty bright and well balanced. Next aspect about Ivory is the strong and beautiful singers voice, that reminds me sometimes on Anberlin and also a little bit on Dead Poetic and even to Nathan Gray from Boy Sets Fire. Sounds weird? I can assure you, that the band is pretty powerful and their strong refrains are so beautiful and emotional at once. Ivory plays bittersweet emotional Rock music – without any annoying screamo parts – and so they sound pretty much alike Spitalfield and Over It. There a even a few parallels to Anadive´s latest album (Zoo) and to the ex-Lobster records band Days Like These. Ivoryline proof, that five stylish boys from Texas are serious musicians and have competitors for so many bands from the ad nauseam genre. Fronted by a mature singer, the band shows their full talent on their debut record – There came a lion – on Toothandnail records. The resume about the record is clear: The band has released a breathtaking and powerful record with amazing drum parts and fresh refrain. I am really astonished, how good that band is.
