The Almost (Aarono Gillespie of Underoath) - Southern Weather

Punk76: Welcome to Germany. How are you?
Timothy: Very good. Thanks a lot for asking.

Punk76: What do you guys think about the city of Cologne. And have you seen the world-famous Cathedral?
Timothy: Timothy McTague: Yes, we walked around the city this afternoon, but we had not so much time. So we was unable to check out the Cathedral.

Punk76: What expectation do you have to the show tonight?
Timothy: I hope It will be cool, because all the shows so far have been very good. I do not think tonight will be any different. We played in Cologne some years ago and I hope tonight will be equally good.

Punk76: Tell us about where you have toured so far and your impressions.
Timothy: Our first time ever in germany was about 2 years ago. The shows were great and it was just weird to see 400 kids jumping around and screaming.

Punk76: Would you say “Define the great Line” is your best album so far?
Timothy: Yeah! I think with our last few records we were trying to get to where we are with this record. So we feel like this is our best work yet.

Punk76: For the last Album “Define the great Line” exspectations were pretty high. I talked to a lot of people who liked “They’re only Chasing Safty” so much about the new record and many were really disappointed, just like me... Why did you changed your music so much?
Timothy: We just wanted to so something different. This Sing-Scream-Thing on “They’re only Chasing Safty”... everybody does that. Why doing what everyone else is doing. Our next record will be even heavier, we will see.

Punk76: Do you choose the bands that come on tour with you?
Timothy: Yes, they are our friends. They are from the US and are always on Tour with us.

Punk76: Would you agree with me, when I say: Emo has become a style that many people live because it is cool and trendy, but they do not care much about the music
Timothy: Yes, thats right, it is all about image and attitude. Who is wearing whos shirt. It is not about music at all.

Punk76: Do you get scared?
Timothy: No, I think our bands different. We write music for music and it is real. I think kids see if bands are fake. If its crap, kids know that it is crap. But crappy bands get huge all the time. Maybe many people do not think of themselves and get this music. At the end of the day it does not really matter, because we do not play music for any other reason then for ourself and the love of music, what we believe in. When we wrote the new record, we new that many people would not like it just because it is different. It is not safe.

Punk76: What was your labels reaction?
Timothy: Yes, they were definitely scared. It was a way heavier than they wanted it. But the can not say change it, we won’t change it.

Punk76: The whole world is getting faster in some way, would you say that also bands lifes get shorter? How can you try to have a longer “Life” as a band?
Timothy: Yes, I think that things are way temporarier. If our next record is going really well, that would be great. But you have to remeber that this is not going to last forever.

Punk76: Would you say that the music business is a fair business? Hard work = means = success?
Timothy: Well, it is what you make of it. If you work hard there is a good change to get somewhere. The musicbusiness is all about who you know and your friends, this and that...

Punk76: How important is it to be lucky and have connections?
Timothy: You can say, good music, hard work an a little bit of luck.

Punk76: Would you prefer the solo tour or festival tours?
Timothy: Solo! You can play longer, do what you want. But every tour has an own dynamic. Festival tours are cool, because there are a lot of people.

Punk76: What is currently on your Ipod?
Timothy: MeWithoutYou!
