The Devil Wears Prada :: 05/06/08 :: Interviewer Claire-Rhiannon Adams w/ Jeremy DePoyster and Andy Trick

Punk76: You guys have got a seriously long tour coming up! How you feeling?
Jeremy: Ahhh which tour?

Punk76: The tour your on at the moment!
Jeremy:(Laughs) Oh yeah!

Punk76: You got quite a few dates haven’t you!?
Jeremy: Yeah! We been on tour pretty much last couple years just round south like. We haven’t been home for like more than a month at a time, not normally more than a week or two..so. (little sigh)

Punk76: Your from Ohio Right?
Andy: Yeah.

Punk76: That’s a long way and long time to be away from home!
(Both sigh) yeah!

Punk76: So wheres next?
Jeremy: Ummm, tomorrow we’re…(says to Andy) Where we playing?
Andy: I dunno? We’re kinda making our way to Dowload.
Jeremy: Yeah on the way to download. Tomorrow is Colchester then Stoke, Birmingham, Cardiff, Manchester, York and Glasgow.

Punk76:Shit! that’s a lot of places! Download should be good though!
Yeah!

Punk76: I will be definitely going there.
Jeremy: Yeah, should be cool. This is our first show in the UK ever! (Barfly Camden).

Punk76:This is the first!? Good place to start! Camden is like the heart of Londons rock scene!
(Both) oh really? Cool!

Punk76: Ok so worldwide 2 years non stop touring, which country has been the best?
Jeremy: Australia. We just came from there. Best response…probably Mexico cause the kids are crazy! But I think like, Australia is the Country we all liked. I dunno it was just beautiful, The people there were amazing!

Punk76: On your Myspace site you have your genre down as being a Christain Rock Band. What does that mean to you as a “Rock Band”?
Jeremy: Just means that, you know…theres Punk Political bands, Vegan bands, Straight Edge bands, all those bands have something to say through their music…You know whatever they are trying to say. We just ah…We’re Christian people and so that’s what we wanna reflect in our music you know? Its the only way we know how to say what we really wanna say. We’re not trying to shove things down peoples throats by any means, but more just saying like, you know…..Just because you been turned off something because of maybe the church or your parents or something like that. Christianity or the idea of god, don’t let people ruin something that could be really still be a good thing for you, you know?

Punk76: So you can still be rocking if you have a faith ect..
Jeremy:Yeah! Exactly. we are just trying to present it in a different light I guess, not trying to say this is the only thing you can believe in but saying don’t brush it off just because someone else may have ruined it for you. So like with Political and Straight Edge, does your Faith play a big part the writing of your songs?
Uhhh,…I know lyric wise a lot of stuff Mike writes is based on faith and just looking at life that way. I dunno I think more than anything we try to write more about positive stuff rather than just…umm, a lot of rock bands and rock stars just dwell in the negative, saying embrace this negative feeling, take out your anger and stuff like that…we’re more along the lines of.. You don’t have to embrace that, just because its there doesn’t mean you cant come at it from a positive direction.

Punk76: Do you guys still get up to some rock n roll behavior when your on tour though?
(both guys are grinning) Jeremy: We’re pretty good, We’re pretty good.
Andy: we’re pretty controlled.
Jeremy: Yeah pretty good (laughing) I mean we have fun but we’re pretty good. (ok)

Punk76: Last one for you guys. The press tends to rule what genre bands music comes under. In an ideal world what would you like The Devil Wears Prada to come under? Can you make me up a genre like on the top of myspace pages: punk/rock/metal? Andy: Awsome. (Laughing) Jeremy: I wish we could just be called a Rock band! You know at the end of the day we’re just playing live music. If we had to classify it…it would probably be metalcore, mix of like metal and hardcore. I think we just draw influences from like sooo many different areas, you know what I mean? So I think just Rock band would be best.

Punk76: Cool, well thanks a lot guys!
