Interview . Dúné . w/ Mattias Kolstrup (vocals) and Simon Troelsgaard (guitar) .

Interviewer: Laura . 20/07/2010 . Deichbrand Festival Cuxhaven .

Dúné haben in den letzten Jahren große Schritte gemacht: ein Umzug von Dänemark nach Berlin, unzählige Konzerte und ihr zweites Album, wleches an den Erfolg des Debütalbums „We Are In There You Are Out Here“ nahtlos anschließen konnte. Dazu beigetragen hat sicher die Fannähe der Band, im Gespräch mit Sänger Mattias und Gitarrist Simon wurde in entspannter Atmosphäre geplaudert und viel gelacht. Eine wahnsinnig sympathische Band, die noch dazu eine unglaubliche Bühnenshow darbietet.

Punk76: In Denmark, where you used to live there's the Roskilde Festival, have you ever been there or even played there? And If yes, how was it?

Mattias: We played there twice, in 2006 and 2007 and I have been there in 2005 as well. It's pretty big, big names and it's a nice festival. A really great festival actually. And it's cool being there, a cool feeling. And we look very much forward to play there again.

Punk76: You recently released a DVD called „Stages“, could you tell me something about it?

Simon: Well.. it's a movie about.. us? So many people think that it's a movie about us writing our second record or about our music but it's just a movie about growing up and being a teenager moving away from mom and dad. Trying to do everything by yourself. Mattias: I think a lot of the people can relate to the movie and that is very cool.

Punk76: Actually I looked where I can buy it and didn't find a german shop that offers it, so where can fans buy the DVD?

Mattias: We're working on the release in Germany. Simon: It's hard right now.. so right now it's not released in Germany but you can still order it in Denmark and have it shipped to Germany.

Punk76: Yeah, but it's like 50 Euros. But probably worth it.

Simon: Yes! We're thinking about getting it synchronised into German.

Mattias: My voice should be some big, black guy.

Punk76: But you're able to speak a little German yourself, right?

Simon: Ein bisschen.

Mattias: Mein Deutsch ist.. kind of schlecht. But we know the basics, like „Hallo“ or „Ein Bier bitte“.

Simon: We understand a lot because it's easier to understand than to speak.

Punk76: Did you have german in school while your time in Denmark?

Simon: Yeah, for like 5 years.

Punk76: Which song of yours is your favourite to play at festivals and why?

Mattias: I personally like „Get It Get It“.

Simon: Yeah, „Get It Get It“!

Mattias: If I'm really tired it's really hard.. but it's good.

Simon: Yes, „Get It Get It“ is fun and „Final Party“ as well, good for dancing and I like „Heiress Of Valentina“, the second song we played because it's good stadium rock.

Punk76: Actually you chose „Time To Leave“ as the first song today, that was very interesting.

Mattias: We've done that for a long time, even before the album was released and it always worked out because there's that silent intro.

Simon: And on the CD „Time To Leave“ is also the first song but we have an intro which is the last song and we take that as the first one for live shows.

Punk76: If your time at Dichbrand Festival would be made into a movie and you would have to chose the soundtrack for it: one song for travelling to the Deichbrand, one for the time actually spent there and one for leaving, which songs would you chose?

Mattias (starting so sing): Timid Tiger – My Girl is a Rascal.

Simon: Yes, definitely. That's the welcoming song, the song for travelling there. The song for being here could be a song from Danko Jones. We've played with him yesterday, too. And tonight as well and they are really, really cool and nice guys. And the song for leaving.. it should be the Steel Panther, „Party All Night“? [Both starting to sing the song]

Punk76: Could you name 3 things that every festival visitor should bring to a festival?

Mattias: Socks

Simon: Yes, Socks.

Mattias: And a third pair of socks! (smiling), No.. a tent is always pretty good.

Simon: And sunglasses. I would take ma bandana, my sunglasses and..

Mattias: Money doesn't matter, beer doesn't matter.

Simon: Right, you can always talk to people and get a free beer. Especially the girls! You should do it more because the guys, they love it when you do it.

Mattias: And a good mood is also important.

Simon: A good partying and destroying mood.

Punk76: On your website, there are short videos called „Vlog“ which show you in different situations, are you filming Vlogs at Festivals, too?

Mattias: I was jus thinking „Why didn't I bring my camera?“

Simon: We do it all the time.

Punk76: Are you filming yourself or do you have a camera guy?

Mattias: I do most and when I'm on stage I just ask somebody if they want to film.

Simon: You should put credits at the end like „producer: Mattias, camera man: Mattias, engineer: Mattias“

Punk76: You're doing a signing at the Visions Tent later on, is it something you look forward to or is it something you don't really want to do but have to?

Simon: I don't think so.

Mattias: Yes, we're doing an autograph signing later on.

Simon: oh, it's nice to be informed. Thanks to our manager! (smiles)

Mattias: We love doing things like that.

Simon: It's always nice to see people, people that have seen us for the first time and people that we've seen before. Often the same people are coming and it's nice to see them again.

Mattias: And it's great to see that people appreciate what we do. That's why we're doing it. We actually almost alywas do that, going to the merchandise table after the show and signing things.

Punk76: Could you please complete the sentence: If I could be anywhere in the world right now I'd like to be...“

Simon: Deichbrand!

Mattias: Siberia. It's cold up there. We actually have a friend from Siberia, her name is Valentina, she lives in Moscow now but she grew up in Siberia and her parents were nuclear scientists. So she lived in that area only with nuclear scientists children. That's isolation I guess!
