Interview . Buckcherry . w/ Josh Todd (vocals) .

Interviewer: Laura. E-Mail Interview 25/08/2010 .

Punk76: Why did you choose to keep the name „Buckcherry“ after the first breakup of the band?
Josh Todd: What a lot of people don't know is that 3 of the original members had quit after the Timebomb tour and it was just Keith and I writing songs for the third installment which is funny because that's exactly how the band began. BC never really dissolved it was just a long hiatus between getting the right band members and after finding X, Jimmy, and Stevie it's been the longest running line up in BC history, the most successful records, and the band we always wanted it to be.
Punk76: Did you grow up in Los Angeles? If yes, how did that area affect your music?
Josh Todd: I was born in LA but grew up in orange county. LA is the entertainment capital of the world and eats people alive and spits them out we knew if we could make it there it was on so it was a great motivator.
Punk76: Is it true that Josh met Keith through your tattoo artist?
Josh Todd:Yes Kevin Quinn was tattooing me and and started telling me about this guy I should meet and Keith came by shortly after.
Punk76: Do you have a tattoo that has a special meaning to it? One that is more important to you than the other ones?
Josh Todd: They all are special to me they kind of mark time lines in my life that are special to me.
Punk76: Looking back at the early years of your career, would you say that you were happier back then or happier today?
Josh Todd: Much happier today.
Punk76: Josh, in your autobiography there's a sentence concerning the project you did with Slash, Duff McKagan and Matt Sorum: "It was amazing, the band was slamming, and then Slash just came in one day and just shit-canned the whole thing" could you explain this a little further? How is your relationship with Slash today?
Josh Todd: I never wrote an autobiography and yes it's true Slash is the one that didn't want to move forward. Ultimately we both got what we wanted out of it. Slash and I do not have a personal relationship it was a month out of both of our lives and it was several years a go.
Punk76: Many of your songs deal with sexuality, don't you think that it can cause problems for example if an underage person is at your concerts?
Josh Todd: No I don't it's a rock show not sex ed.
Punk76: Josh, you've worked together with Escape The Fate, how did that come? Where do you know them from?
Josh Todd: I was friends with their manager and he put us together and it was a good fit, those guys are great.
Punk76: Do you like the new Escape The Fate songs with Craig singing better than the old ones with Ronnie Radke's vocals?
Josh Todd: I like writing great songs, I don't get involved in the drama. I only know the ETF with Craig.
Punk76: You released a free download of a the self-titled song of your new record „All Night Long“ on Twitter but it had to be taken down for a while because too many people were downloading it. Who had the idea to do so? How important are socializing websites like Twitter and Facebook for you as a musician?
Josh Todd: We made that choice collectively with our team we had no idea that would happen it was crazy. Social networking has really helped us do all this organically by letting the people who love BC dictate the pace.
Punk76: Your new record is called „All Night Long“ would you rather listen to Michael Jackson's „Beat It“ all night long or to Prince's „Purpe Rain“?
Josh Todd: Prince.
Punk76: Do the lyrics on „All Night Long“ have a main theme?
Josh Todd: Yeah the theme is "timeless rock n' roll!"
Punk76: If you would have to describe your new record to someone who is deaf and never heard music, what would you say? How would you explain it to him/her?
Josh Todd: I would say it's the same feeling you get, from an orgasm or biting into a great piece of chocolate cake.
