I really love to obey how creative bands can be. Our Punk- and our music scene seems to be dead sometimes. If you take a look on the modern Rock scene today you find tons of Screamo, Metal and Disco-Punks in the vein of Atreyu, Fall Out Boy, Underoath, 36 Crazy Fists, The Cab, Cobra Starship, The Higher and so on and so on. I mean I am into these bands but I am missing the varity. How great was it ten years ago, when there were tons of different bands that really made different music. Today the music scene has it´s up and downs and it is hard to find out about good new bands like Funeral Party. Honestly their band name sounds like a boring Screamo band name. But guess what: this is a super-surprise-band waiting for you. Their music and their catchiness are just inspiring. They sound so different from the main-stream-stuff that we have in our players today. Funeral Party is a fresh breath in the polluted air. Their brilliant Bootleg EP came out on December 2nd and gives you a foretaste on the new album that comes out via Fearless/ Warner records on April 21th. Funeral really sounds to me like a freaked-out mixture from Captain Future (yes, the comic-music) to The Hives, The Cure, pretty old Rolling Stones stuff (don´t citizise me here: Compare their track NYC and those slamming drums and guitars), Brazil and The Kinison. The EP contains two killer great songs (Carwars & NYC) and another track that has turned out ok, which is called "Chalice". Funeral Party may become another "Better-To-Know" artist in 2009. Their music fits perfectly into the new league of modern Rock bands, like The Killers, The Teenagers, The Wombats and Keane. Me definintely cannot wait for new material to come.
