This Good Night Is Still Everywhere is a christmas album by singer/songwriter Dustin Kensrue of Thrice. Dustin, who released his last EP "Please come home" through Equal Vision on January 24th 2007, has signed with Vagrant records in 2008. His new album This Good Night Is Still Everywhere contains eight famous christmas cover tracks and two original tracks by Dustin. The songs differ very much from each other. Some where originally composed in the 17th and 19th century others where from taken from the 60´s and 80´s. If you scroll down you can see the tracklist with each track, composer and date of composition. I used to love Dustin in Thrice and I really loved his last EP that came out one year ago but I must admit, that his new album really sucks. There is only one track that really satisfy me. It is called" Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)", originally composed and sung by Darlene Love in 1963. I like Darlene´s nice and poppish jingle-based version but I also love Dustin´s new country interpretation of that song. Furthermore he covered a few popular Christmas tracks, that really suck in my opinion. Some sound really to bitter and to serious to me, others like The Pogues´ "Fairytale of New York" really got covered much better by No Use For A Name a few years ago. The new record contains a couple of songs, that really make me sick, like "O Holy Night" which sounds really annoying to me. Often original versions of these songs sound much better in comparison to Dustin´s interpretation. I guess that Dustin has tried to combine emotion and honest feelings with famous christmas songs but to me this project really has not worked out good.
