Downtown Singapore - Don´t let your guard down

Downtown Singapore is a pretty unknown band from the States, although they already shared the stages with bands like The All American Rejects, Emery, Over It, The Ataris and others. They are signed to a small label, which is called D-cide records. "Don´t let your guard down" is the fallow up release to their masterpiece EP "Understanding a guarantee" . What is DTS about, you ask. I will tell you now. First up: The band plays melodic Emo/Rock with amazing hooks, slamming drum work and fat basslines. Sometimes you find synthezisers and piano, which create a very beautiful and pleasant atmosphere here. The record tends between romantic mid-tempo songs and beautiful ballards. The record was produced by Matt Squire who also worked with Panic at the disco, The Receiving End of Sirens, Northstar, Foster and others. This means you can expect a pretty fat recording quality here. There is a special factor that I like about DTS very much: The singer definitely reminds me to Matt Prior from The Get Up Kids and The New Amsterdams. "Don´t let your guard down" is a real strange experience, cause it sounds as if Prior is singing for a melodic Emo-Rock band. The record contains twelve songs at all which take 3-5 minutes of time without getting boring. "Don´t let your guard down" is a beautiful and romantic experience, which is exciting to discover. It is necessary to tell you, that you can close your eyes and dream along to this beautiful release. The outstanding singers voice and the brilliant recording quality will make this record pretty well known soon in the Emo-Rock scene. There is only one minus: I can´t figure out those special passages, that I found on their fist EP, when the whole recording was calming down, while it exploded again in the next. Nevertheless be assured to find a wonderful band and record here, which is worthy to know about. I guess those guys will gain a lot of attention in the future.
