Doug Does Decaydance

Doug Neumann, who is friends with Pete Wentz (head of Decaydance records) recorded twelve well arranged jazz/ swing songs. Doug covered twelve tracks, which originally got performed by Paramore, Panic At The Disco, Fall Out Boy, The Academy Is and Gym Class Heroes. I really like the fact, that Doug has choosen rock, punk and hip-hop tracks and “re-designed” new. Doug has made swing/jazz tunes out of these tracks. The record could be very interesting for fans of Robbie Williams´ classic release “Swing when you´re winning” and for fans of Michael Buble. I honestly need to admit, that Doug had a great idea to cover all those great tracks. He made his arrangements with piano, drums, bass and piano and although this might be a great aspect, I need to admit, that the record has not turned out so very well. Doug has a great voice on one hand, but to me the songs have turned out pretty boring. There are only a couple of tracks, like “Dance Dance”, which was originally performed by Fall Out Boy and “But it´s better if you do”, which was originally performed by Panic At The Disco. The big minus about the release is, that the songs most often sound totally different with the original.
