Dillinger Four - Civilwar

Fat Wreck Chords . 10/14/2008 . written by Oliver . genre: Punk

DillingerFourAfter six years of abstinence the Minneapolis fourtett Dillinger Four has released a new full-lenght record, called C I V I L W A R. The record contains thirteen terrific punkrock songs with dueling lead vocals by Paddy Costello (raw voice) and Erik Funk (clean vocals). At first I need to mention here, that Dillinger Four have released their very best record ever. I totally feel reminded to a lot of bands, which I like to list here: Erik´s fresh and sunshiny vocals totally remind me to a band called Teenage Bottlerocktet on Red Scare Records and even a little bit to Dennis Lyxzen from The Lost Patrol band. When Erik is singing the songs have a pretty fresh and delightful atmosphere. When Paddy is doing on vocals the songs get much rawer and harder. I honestly like Erik´s voice more and thankfully most tracks got sung by him. Dillinger Four definitely made their best record up to date and I think a lot of major labels will show interest in them now, because the songs did not only worked out fine in its production, they are even highly melodic and electrifying. I like the fact that midtempo- and fast songs alternate on C I V I L W A R. Great politcal lyrics, strong guitars, slamming drums and huge basslines are waiting for the listener. Fans of The Sainte Catherines, Lawrence Arms, Lost Patrol, Travoltas and Against Me! shouldn´t hesitate to buy this record. To me this band is the most promising band currently to find on Fatwreck.
