Desoto Jones - Aurora
Deep Elm Records . release date: 11/27/2007 . written by Oliver
Deep Elm records is known very well for having Emo/Pop/Rock releases on their label. Recently it seems, as if DeepElm is trying to catch some new listeners. With Desoto Jones, the label shows a newer and probably a more fresher site. Going a step away from the Emo genre could mean a risk, but DeepElm has prooven once again their excellent taste in good music. Desoto is their newest signing. I can clearly renember when I checked out the bands Myspace profile on the internet. God, these catchy "Emo-Rock-Pop-whatever-you-will-call-them-songs" just blew me away. Weeks later DeepElm has send me their record. And the "flash" came again: This kind of certain feeling and the love for the band. The singers voice is so raw and strong, the guitars contain so much power and the drum work is at least so dynamic and even "atlethic", so that I was only stocked, when I was listening to the songs. To me DJ sounds a lot like Say Anything from Doghouse/J records. If I should tell you about the very best song on their record, then I have to deny my duty, because I am not able to tell you. But I can assure you, that "Aurora" is really a masterpiece of good music in the genre. So, all you kids out there: don´t dare to download that record on the internet, otherwise I will kick you in the face! The band and the label deserve a strong support. This band rocks and you all should help them to grow. Highly recommended to fans of Say Anything.
