Brandston - Hello Control

The Militia Group . release date: 05/02/2006 . written by Hendrik

BrandstonBrandtson made a radical change since their last record „Send us a Signal” came out. Nevermind, you can like it, anyway, if you feel free to get used to it. The new record starts with a very quiet and atmospheric opener. Electronic sounds might describe best, what I hear here. Sure, sometimes you´ll find the "typical" Emo-Sound, that the band was playing frequently on their last record. The new sound is way more aggressive. The band has definitely taken a step into another direction. That’s what I thought after listening to the record for the first time. After about 10 times listening you´ll figure out more and more triffles and even some smaller parallels to their last LP "Send us a Signal". Nevertheless Brandtson made a change in their music and it is a good one to me. You still find the cosey and warm refrains on this record, especially when you listen to “Here we go” or even on track number 8, called “Parallels”. Once you get used to the band’s new identey - or sound - you will like it pretty well. On “Hello, Control” Brandtson has made their music really sound unique. It is hard to think of other bands, that combine electronic and emotional Rock elements in the same way, that Brandtson does. You will probably love or hate that record. It depends on how far you like to accept their new sound. In my opinion Brandtson recorded a pretty good Pop Rock record with nice electronic elements and catchy melodies on.
