Alkaline Trio - Crimson
Vagrant Records . 12/06/2005 . written by Oliver
Goddamit, what has happen to this band? Their songs have turned out so well, since they got signed to Vagrant records years ago. Wow! I renember that band very clearly: I found out about them, while I was listening to a “Asian Man records” compilation. The small label is run by Mike Park, who also runs the Takeactiontour. However, the band started out on this label and the very first song I heard was “For your lungs”- I was already stocked back in the days about that band. But their fallow up LP was really lame. But since they got signed to Vagrant, the band only offers masterpiece songs- and guess what: Crimson is a masterpiece too! The recording is really bright and clear, with driving vocals, amazing melodies and a pinch of black magic. There is really not much to describe: This CD, better off this band is a duty for every punkrocker, who is into melodic mid-tempo rock, combined with fine and powerful melodies. I think Green Day is a joke, when I compare them to Alkaline Trio. Wow! Those powerful drums, screaching guitars, the odd piano and the crystal clear voice will take your heart by storm. Highly recommended on P76.
