Alexisonfire - Moneen - The Switcheroo Series

Honestly: There is no better band in the Emo/Screamo genre to find than Alexisonfire. I recently thought, that Boy Set´s Fire or even Funeral For A Friend are the best bands to find in the genre. I was wrong! AlexIsOnFire is an awesome band, consisting of amazing musicians, who write great songs, that overlap everything that was ever released in that genre. AlexIsOnFire has two amazing singers. George is doing the agressive vocals, while Dallas is singing the normal passages. Both singers are more than impressive, as well as the rest of the band, who are entirely great musicians. Their last release [Watch Out] has prooven the bands skills and it´s talent. Huge basslines collided with screeching guitars, slamming drums and outstanding, bitter hard and sweet voices. Back to the new EP: The canadian based bands Alexisonfire and Moneen teamed up to record this split EP on their friends record label, "Dine Alone records". The idea of the EP is simple to explain: Moneen cover two Alexisonfire songs and Alex cover two Moneen songs. Both bands also recorded a brandnew song and put them on the EP. This EP only has one disadvantage: It shows clearly, that Moneen just lost the race with Alexisonfire, cause their cover songs sound pretty dull and bleak. Ok, I mean they don´t sound bad, but you can´t compare them to the original Alex´ songs. Their cover versions of "Sharks in danger" and "Accidents are on purpose" was recorded without imagination and soul. I even found a mistake, because the song "Charlie Sheen vs. Henry Rollins" was recorded by Alexisonfire. The EP cover says, the song was recorded by Moneen. No, it was not! Anyway. Alexisonfire once again proofes who is the king of melodic metal music. Their songs contain so much energy, soul and so much power of perusasion. This small EP definitely is a must have for fans of both bands.
