Alexisonfire - Crisis

I think everyone will agree, if I say, that Screamo is a genre, that is almost completely faded out. There are only a few bands, that could continue making good music in this struggle. Alexisonfire is one of those Emo-Screamo bands, that totally differ from the masses of Screamo bands, that come out monthly. Alexisonfire has gained a lot of sucsess in Canada - their homeland - and now they even gain a lot of sucsess overseas, also in the US, Europe and even in Japan. I read, that their old record "Watch Out" gained gold-status in Canada. This don´t makes me wonder. I also think, that "Watch Out" was one of the best Emo-Screamo releases ever in the history of that genre. Now the band is back with a stunning release on Vagrant records, called "Crisis". The record contains eleven great songs, which remind me a lot to their previous release "Watch Out". The record starts with a song, called "Drunks, Lovers, Sinners and Saints". I really felt reminded to Hot Water Music here and George (aggressive throat) also dares to sing sometimes with a normal voice. I really have to commend his try, because George normal voice sounds pretty good. Dallas (normal voice) has such an amazing voice, which reminds me a little bit to Nathan Gray from BSF. Dallas is also running an accoustic side-project, called "City And Colour", that got signed to Vagrant Records in 2007. This guy has such an beautiful and impressive voice. I like both singers very much and I like the symbiosis, when both singers do vocals at the same time. On "Crisis" you find those "typical" Alexisonfire songs again, that you also got to know from the last record. I my opinion the band is not able to challenge their previous recording, nevertheless the new record is still very good and it gained 4 points in our evaluation - so, this is still very high. I also like the fact, that the recording quality is very good again. So you find huge basslines, which collide with massive guitar work, super-intensive vocals and strong drum work. This record has turned out really good again.
