Ace Enders And A Million Different People - The secret wars

Regular Music . June 13 2008 . written by Oliver . genre: Pop/ Accoustic/ Emo

AceEndersSinger/ songwriter Ace Enders (ex frontman of The Early November) has put out a brandnew record for free to the public. The record contains eight very beautiful - and brilliant - Emo Rock/ Pop tracks pretty much in the vein of Dashboard Confessional, Quicksand and The Rocket Summer. On his latest effort Ace and his band show what they are able to: They recorded eight flawless tracks - some of them are kept more silent and emotional, others are full of energy and zest of action. The first song is called "Motion" which reminds me a lot to Dashboard Confessional and Ace´s foregoer band I Can Make a Mess Like Nobody's Business. The focuss is based on the accoustic guitar Ace is playing. The second song is more stronger in comparison to the first one. It contains beautiful electric guitar, soft drums and glockenspiel. Reaction is the next track to find on the CD. This track shows some parallels to The Rocket Summer. The refrain on this track is so beautiful but I also like the warm and cosey back-up vocals when Ace is singing: "I hold my breath and wait for your reaction". This track really animates me to sing-a-long to. Next track in-line is called "Rain" and it is probably the strongest track on this EP. Starting off slowly with accoustic guitar, changing into a kind of HC track after a few seconds. Somehow this track reminds me a lot to Quicksand and probably even to elder New Found Glory stuff. Check out the well played riffs and the strong drums on this track - to me this is old school. The record contains another four tracks that tend between upbeat and soft & emotional Rock tracks. "Why do you run" sounds like a beautiful track just taken from the latest Melée release. I like the emotion Ace put in his voice. The most silent track is called "Bring Back Love (2020)". Consisting of piano and a killer refrain Ace kicks ass without any drums in the track. Only his beautiful voice dominates the track. The Secret War ends with a great track, called "Body like mind". This track reminds me to Quicksand, Farside, NFG and New End Original. You may feel my passion about this great EP here. I wish Ace would have recorded some more songs. Eight songs are just to less material for such a great songwriter and musician. This release may quickly become your favorite record in 2008 - to me it has already!
