A Wilhelm Scream is a Canadian band, that plays explosive melodies, performed in a pretty raw and fast manner. I often read, that AWS got compared to bands like Rise Against or Good Riddance. In my opinion this is a pretty describtion, because AWS totally differs from these bands a lot. Their whole style, the singing and the songwriting is not really compareable with Rise or Good Riddance. AWS recently left Jump Start records and got signed to Nitro records. Their latest release is called "Ruiner"- a skatepunk release with 14 songs on. I often questioned myself, to which band I can compare AWS to and now I have a clue: The song pattern and the guitar work totally sounds like Belvedere and Whippersnapper, while the singing reminds me to Trigger Happy. It is interesting to mention, that the new record was produced by Jason Livermore and Bill Stevenson [All/Descendents] at the Blasting Room in Florida. Therefore the record definitely sounds pretty bright, professional and crystal clear at least. AWS totally impresse their fans with hard edged riffs, superfast drum work, mega-huge basslines and a raw singers voice. There is only one minus: I listened to the record and almost every song sounds the same. When I turned off the record, I was not able to remind one single song.
