A Wilhelm Scream - Career Suicide

A Wilhelm Scream, out from Canada, recently released their third full length CD on Nitro records. Nitro, founded by Dexter Holland (The Offspring), has had a lot of incredible bands on its roster, such as: AFI, Guttermouth, and others. Since Dexter has been so busy lately, his brother-in-law has taken charge and signed new bands such as Rufio, Enemy You, No Trigger and A Wilhelm Scream. AWS recently released it´s third full length record, called “Career Suicide;” Internet blog opinion polls on the band vary greatly. Some bloggers have even coined them the new Lagwagon, Strung Out or Pennywise - although I personally don't agree. “Career Suicide” was produced by Bill Stevenson and Jason Livermore (All/Decendents). Having them team on the album should usually guarantee brilliant work. The band has even accommodated a new bassist, whose skills are amazing. Although, I've mentioned positive aspects regarding the band, I'm not a huge fan. The same phenomena of musical charm bestowed upon “Career Suicide” exists on the last record as well: Every song sounds the same /there are no real changes. Granted, the vocals are strong yet raw, the guitars are aggressive, and the drums are fantastically fast, but there is not a single song that caught my attention. They all sound mediocre, but I have found nothing in the album to make me want to add it to my collection.
