AFI - Decemberunderground
Interscope Records . 2006
AFI are finally back with their great masterpiece, called "Decemberunderground", which won´t differ very musch from their previous release "Sing the sorrow". AFI really took a long time-out to write down their new songs. The result is really amazing and you might feel my passion here. The band recorded twelve haunting songs, with impressive throat and bittersweet vocals on- all sung by one person: Davey Havock. He has such an impressive voice and I can assure you: There is no such voice like Davey´s to find in the genre again. I really like that the new material won´t differ to much from the previous material. Well ok, this time there are no fast songs on, and the record solely consists of midtempo songs and ballards, but this aspect wont make the record any boring. The band had so many ideas and it would took days to describe them all. It is already impressive to mention those hard edges guitars, which collide with massive synthezisers. Decemberunderground is the name of the new record, which makes me guessing, that the band was pretty much influeced this time by U2 and The Cure. I cannot find one single bad song on this haunting and mystherious record.
