AFI - Decemberunderground
Interscope Records . 06/06/2006 . review: Oliver . genre: Gothic/ Punk/ Electro/ Pop
AFI just released another stunning masterpiece on Interscope
Records, called "Decemberunderground". The release does not really
differ much from their foregoer record "Sing the sorrow". AFI really
tooked a long time out to write down new songs and the result has turned out amazing.
Davey Havoc and his band recorded twelve stunning Rock tracks with slamming drums, super hard
edged guitars and powerful basslines. Davey has such a beautiful voice
that keeps you banned allover the record. He is able to sing in different styles
and octaves. Honestly there are not many singers out there, that have such a
stunning and beautiful voice, like Davey Havock has. The new material is just
amazing. The record deals once again with a lot of different themes, like love,
romance and misery. When AFI begun their in the ninetees on Nitro records, their
songs were pretty raw and fast. The band has decreased the tempo and increased
their melodies and their creativeness. The majortiy of songs on "Decemberunderground"
had been kept in a midtempo manner. AFI is one of the most creative bands,
that I know about. Their music tends between Pop, Darkwave, Punk, Hardcore and
Screamo. On "Decemberunderground" the band definitely got influenced
by The Cure and U2.
